It’s a fun, easy starter project and makes for the perfect baby shower or toddler’s birthday gift (and can you believe it's made with felt?). And what’s a gift without a card? Cricut has an incredible selection of card examples made with Cricut Explore machines. There’s even a whole selection dedicated to everything baby, which is where I came across this cute <a href="http://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=749826&u=929557&m=51766&urllink=&afftrack=">baby shower card</a>. <br><br><b>Birthday</b><br>What better way to tell someone how special they are than with a hand/Cricut-made card and gift? This super fun <a href="http://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=749827&u=929557&m=51766&urllink=&afftrack=">shaker card</a> is perfect for a 21+ birthday. And even if you purchase a gift, you can always use your Cricut Explore machine to personalize it. For example, if you bought a friend a purse or a wallet, you could use your machine to monogram it with their initials. Or if you bought them a plain shirt or sweater, you could customize it with a fun image or statement. <br><br>I love this sparkly <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/105130972528109164/">pineapple t-shirt</a>. All you need is a blank shirt, a roll of Cricut Iron-on, and images from the Cricut® Summer Love image set. <br><br><b>Pool Party</b><br>Soak up the summer fun with a pool party! You can use your Cricut Explore to create everything from invitations to decorations. Here are some really creative ideas for how to add some special splash to a <a href="http://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=749828&u=929557&m=51766&urllink=&afftrack=">pool party</a>. <br><br><b>Engagement/Wedding</b><br>Make your own beautiful table decorations, banners, party favor boxes, cards, and more for the happy couple in just a few minutes! <ul style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;">

Here are a few notable features of the Explore One: </span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;" /><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;" /><b style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;">Materials</b><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: white; font-family: calibri;"> – All Cricut machines can cut an unbelievable variety of materials, for example:</span><br />
<ul style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;">
<li>Paper </li>
<li>Vinyl</li>
<li>Iron-on </li>
<li>Craft materials </li>
<li>Upcycled materials </li>
<li>Fabric </li>
<li>Plastic </li>
<li>Thick materials </li>
</ul>
<b style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;">Precision</b><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: white; font-family: calibri;"> - Features Cut Smart™ technology, which allows you to cut a wide range of shapes and sizes with exceptional precision, from ¼" tall up to 11½" wide x 23½" tall. </span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;" /><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;" /><b style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;">Smart Set® Dial</b><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: white; font-family: calibri;"> - Each machine features a Smart Set® dial, which sets your settings (e.g. speed, pressure, etc.) for you so you don’t have to keep track of them. You just select the material that you're using on the Smart Set® dial and the machine's Cut Smart® technology will deliver a clean, professional cut. </span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;" /><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;" /><b style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;">Images and Fonts</b><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: white; font-family: calibri;"> - You can upload your own images and fonts for free on all three Cricut cutting machines. </span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;" /><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;" /><b style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;">Cartridges</b><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: white; font-family: calibri;"> - Both machines work with any Cricut cartridge and have the capability to hold all of your cartridges “virtually” in the cloud within your Cricut Design Space online software. So once you’ve loaded a cartridge, you’ll have it everywhere you go. </span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;" /><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;" /><b style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;">Cricut’s Design Space™ and iPad® app</b><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: white; font-family: calibri;"> - All Cricut Explore machines work hand-in-hand with Cricut’s Design Space™ (for PC, Mac®, iPad®, and iPhone®) that you get access to for free. </span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;" /><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;" /><b style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;">Cricut Explore Air™</b><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;" /><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;" /><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: white; font-family: calibri;">The Explore Air is the whole kit ‘n caboodle. It offers all the impressive features mentioned for the Explore One, but two key things set it apart:</span><br />
<ol style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;">
<li>It has a dual carriage for cutting and writing or cutting and scoring in one step. If you do a lot of paper crafting, this is the machine for you!</li>
<li>It has built-in Bluetooth® capability. You just use Cricut’s free iPad app and design anything you want from your iPad, just like you would on your home computer, but with the convenience of being able to take your projects with you anywhere. Then, you can just wirelessly send your project from your iPad to your Explore Air to bring it to life.</li>
</ol>
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: white; font-family: calibri;">Now that you know a lot more about how </span><a href="http://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=567915&u=929557&m=51766&urllink=&afftrack=" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: calibri;">Cricut</a><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: white; font-family: calibri;"> Explore® machines work, I’ll focus next week’s post on how you can design here, there and everywhere with Cricut Design Space. I have to start this post off by showing you the <a href="http://darlah.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=8216&ci=1260">Stamp of the Month</a> for this month so you know where this started from...<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN8GM4BdhA-9bRtevrd5zWoYbdiVctt02bU1SPHYY4Y53NXXcGxuctCqxzaeU9uNhe2HbqsplNE181GqXVQDjZfkAKJIBDZpG4fsiDX7vFqZLhv0ZLlAJ-E2iNRvBCD5EkD2ZDcusooLM/s640/blogger-image-1511127504.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="399" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN8GM4BdhA-9bRtevrd5zWoYbdiVctt02bU1SPHYY4Y53NXXcGxuctCqxzaeU9uNhe2HbqsplNE181GqXVQDjZfkAKJIBDZpG4fsiDX7vFqZLhv0ZLlAJ-E2iNRvBCD5EkD2ZDcusooLM/s400/blogger-image-1511127504.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
Last night a fellow consultant (thank you Dominique) posted this picture where she was trying to turn the owl stamp into a raccoon but felt something just wasn't quite right..<br />
<br />
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAuR7hg6BZnEgJPPg7nQhaINc5jmf2egeKB3W_qocDAmPdsEAfHYXrq4OwIt2uVRTrMQs0mVU6CzK6P7bwQiw3ZcwWoKkLgag6HLjSUSSncXBNVpt4vxqFFHMRixVWw2hI8lhnejsZV08/s640/blogger-image--629901299.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="272" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAuR7hg6BZnEgJPPg7nQhaINc5jmf2egeKB3W_qocDAmPdsEAfHYXrq4OwIt2uVRTrMQs0mVU6CzK6P7bwQiw3ZcwWoKkLgag6HLjSUSSncXBNVpt4vxqFFHMRixVWw2hI8lhnejsZV08/s320/blogger-image--629901299.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
Me being the kind of person I am, saw this as a challenge.<br />
I decided to do what I do with all things that don't quite look right... I immediately turned it upside down. It's a strange trick for your brain to be forced to see it differently.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I then of course had to immediately go draw all over it with the drawing program in my phone. (Oh did I mention it was almost midnight and I was in bed but couldn't sleep? LOL)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here's what I came up with...</div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN1rvV-AUpIdiWVfwJjheP4mqWMjbFzFetXKXQBYQ2DzI7-TwrFg6XEgVQcPhhhpKVoJ0DXDRN4Z7haK8XqJ-_BzWt4ioAHcUBSKnP_w74jOfYkhGnJ5ooItoQEEzNKSmAIVf7S3fn4i4/s640/blogger-image--568355701.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN1rvV-AUpIdiWVfwJjheP4mqWMjbFzFetXKXQBYQ2DzI7-TwrFg6XEgVQcPhhhpKVoJ0DXDRN4Z7haK8XqJ-_BzWt4ioAHcUBSKnP_w74jOfYkhGnJ5ooItoQEEzNKSmAIVf7S3fn4i4/s640/blogger-image--568355701.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
What do you think? </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I also want to show you the owl could also be a sock monkey... Check out Dominique's post about that <a href="http://fun2cre8.blogspot.ca/2014/08/august-sotm-sock-monkey-card.html">here</a><br />

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Of course it's a great title when it has to do with the time and cost involved in making this great necklace!</div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2-gv2wPbC5BPyRNljxmYM-smA5IOBmyvqIIe4qvij_gww8zCEQTgSPBy4xP7hRXXRpXYK76jWu2W41F3nmZySZgA3zVjjqSMhHSksstoHHNtIxHC6GghIZhi13aQObrGI4QXY4kHBlnY/s640/blogger-image--330788909.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="375" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2-gv2wPbC5BPyRNljxmYM-smA5IOBmyvqIIe4qvij_gww8zCEQTgSPBy4xP7hRXXRpXYK76jWu2W41F3nmZySZgA3zVjjqSMhHSksstoHHNtIxHC6GghIZhi13aQObrGI4QXY4kHBlnY/s400/blogger-image--330788909.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This cost around $10 and I literally completed this in under 5 minutes! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Now of course the phrase would have been in there straight if I didn't stick it in while walking away from the craft table at the Rediscover Close To My Heart event to get a group photo taken with everyone who was there from our team but it truly shows just how easy it was. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You can see that I am wiping off the excess liquid glass from the glass cover in the group photo. LOL</div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm7uYvrw9SsPVGeWczkEtvHPTQWEEdUQMAo2COJ1s6UnXccLEL7T4yEnAacM45W9_1nLhBqyaOgIZR9QEBgit5TzkRoZ1Ar4oXEqKOkvSFbeatC5Z871VCG5Frk_CIdRC30-NlWY9U6Z0/s640/blogger-image-13139414.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm7uYvrw9SsPVGeWczkEtvHPTQWEEdUQMAo2COJ1s6UnXccLEL7T4yEnAacM45W9_1nLhBqyaOgIZR9QEBgit5TzkRoZ1Ar4oXEqKOkvSFbeatC5Z871VCG5Frk_CIdRC30-NlWY9U6Z0/s400/blogger-image-13139414.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I also have to share the funny story behind my choice of image in the necklace. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Back in February I attended a Women's Wellness retreat for military family members (which was an absolutely incredible, life changing experience). </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
A close friend and myself actually helped create a lot if the decoration, handouts and workshop stuff ahead of time including clothing items made from paper for everyone to write their worries on to hang on a clothesline between two trees for the weekend, a map of Canada with speech bubbles to record various postings and events that have happened as part of each persons story, a mini tag album and some cards for everyone to complete and more....</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We showed up a day before to help the facilitators set everything up and while asking if there is anything else we could do my friend was handed a large stack of paper with leaves printed on them and a pair of scissors... </div>
<div>
Yup... You can imagine the look! </div>
<div>
Us who just cut using two Cricuts (some days even used 3) for weeks leading up to this and now we are given scissors with printed images to cut out???</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Needless to say the printed images were handed back to the facilitator and the 60+ page sized leaves were cut out in a matter of about 30 minutes and on nicely patterned paper too!! LOL</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The facilitator was then dubbed "she who runs with scissors".</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Now you can understand why when staring at a large table covered in a massive variety of little images from Close To My Heart that make this project so ridiculously easy my choice was obvious and a gift for the facilitator "She who runs with Scissors" was made. </div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I still used the cuts from the guide but used them a bit different from what the guide that comes with the kit says to.</div>
<div>

I taught these cards at the Crop for the Cure that just happened last weekend and will be teaching them again at a crop put on by Scrapbookingcafeonline.ca May 9, 10, 11 weekend. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What do you think? </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I just joined Steeped Tea Inc as their 3850th independent consultant in Canada on a March 27 and I am sooooo excited about it! </div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here's a photo of Michael and I while we waited for the very first tea from the consultant kit to steep. He insists that I must now wear my apron every time I make tea because that's what professional tea makers do. LOL</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisg9mjOyI27wl_y1LhqdzgnyTrfbr6lvcB1WiWt8bSeKth9beEhR3a4Gg0YzblWBIGPiYMI4J9ajYE6L4bYugR8kI0INPgny0k1SLi1RI1eTB-rK1AQb8fMbBsUoMb1Gq00NR-v7uzGow/s640/blogger-image-447560602.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisg9mjOyI27wl_y1LhqdzgnyTrfbr6lvcB1WiWt8bSeKth9beEhR3a4Gg0YzblWBIGPiYMI4J9ajYE6L4bYugR8kI0INPgny0k1SLi1RI1eTB-rK1AQb8fMbBsUoMb1Gq00NR-v7uzGow/s400/blogger-image-447560602.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Their teas are divine, sales quotas are easily reached just by ordering the amount I personally drink and they have a fundraising program that is amazing (pays 40% to the fundraiser... Ask me for details) I get to have tea parties for my job and my kids love helping me do my job too! What could possibly be better?!?!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This past weekend I was at a Crop for the Cure which was an absolute blast!! The people were awesome, made great new friends, reconnected with some others and had an absolutely wonderful time!! I even won a trip to the spa (though I passed it on to someone else since I live 5 hours away from where the crop and the spa were). </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What does this have to do with my new venture???</div>
<div>
Well, I taught 4 different classes while I was there but still managed to fit in a little crafting for myself as well including this awesome <a href="http://www.svgcuts.com/affiliates/jrox.php?id=3681&jxURL=http://svgcuts.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=44&products_id=308">3 D teapot from SVGcuts</a> that I will be giving out with a tea sample in it to all of my hosts/hostesses as a thank you for hosting. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdMcHQmNaFrWXYGrMRWCOLEaiLXQPophDnSPaLIBjxHqWPJCmG184sjLBq6gM2DnIkp-PhDPcXnXpKa6I9zN6VI43RFHVQzXzx1J71teF1lDDObmNar5Pl-e2udou4Jdu7rBcwpbLAEG8/s640/blogger-image--766944462.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="373" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdMcHQmNaFrWXYGrMRWCOLEaiLXQPophDnSPaLIBjxHqWPJCmG184sjLBq6gM2DnIkp-PhDPcXnXpKa6I9zN6VI43RFHVQzXzx1J71teF1lDDObmNar5Pl-e2udou4Jdu7rBcwpbLAEG8/s400/blogger-image--766944462.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I am in love with it!! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I think I may mod podge them though to make them more durable oh and add some pearls around the edge of the lid and on the base. Thoughts??</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Want one?? Book a party with me and you'll get one for your very own!! :) </b></div>
<div>
Even better is that you'll earn FREE delicious product when you host a party as well. Talk about a win win!!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Now I also have to share a few pictures of my business partners sharing this wonderful product with me because they are simply too adorable not to share with you (and yes I'm completely biased). </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here's a picture of the very first cup of tea we made and you can see who claimed it! </div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div>
Of course Samantha decided to be the party hostess the next time and being the hostess with the mostest (my dad is probably rolling his eyes at that bad grammar.. Sorry dad I had to!) she pulled out her tea set and even served us some plastic cookies and snacks. </div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div>
It is made with White Daisy cardstock and Ariana patterned paper. :) You can find the cut file I used over at <a href="http://www.svgcuts.com/affiliates/jrox.php?id=3681_1">SVGcuts</a> <a href="http://www.svgcuts.com/affiliates/jrox.php?id=3681&jxURL=http://svgcuts.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=44&products_id=308">here</a></div>

<div>
<br />
I cut and scored the card base, she cut the layers to fit. I coloured and cut out the images and she decided on the placement of them. </div>
<div>
<br />
We were very happy with how this turned out.<br />

For today's card I wanted to take this weeks somewhat more complicated sketch (or at least it seemed like it to me haha) and simplify it.

I used a kraft card base and then matted a piece of Frosted pattern paper with colonial white and wrapped it with some hemp baker's twine. I popped it up on some 3-D foam tape. Then I cut a 1 3/4" colonial white label shape from Artiste and a 2" kraft label shape from Art Philosophy. I stamped D1560 Holiday Tags label shape (no I did not cut the shape at the recommended size) in 2nd generation Saddle ink and the sentiment in 2nd generation Juniper. </div>

The card I made is what immediately came to mind and I had a lot of fun making this one. <div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3io6VdOdZhTRYeU6bI849YQMZetgwN9wvORwhMn_x3NPKfGzKAV5QaEJqnupp11Dd8TZd2tS02jzqgOtsngptkEyfRLjE5BmW44SO4_1HCSxPVk-Qtmm1vjOvOz6IvFEJOUXw7aRCR-Y/s1600/Sketch+30+card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3io6VdOdZhTRYeU6bI849YQMZetgwN9wvORwhMn_x3NPKfGzKAV5QaEJqnupp11Dd8TZd2tS02jzqgOtsngptkEyfRLjE5BmW44SO4_1HCSxPVk-Qtmm1vjOvOz6IvFEJOUXw7aRCR-Y/s400/Sketch+30+card.jpg" width="310" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It is an A2 gate-fold card in Cranberry cardstock that I took some scissors (gasp... I know.. I so very rarely cut anything by hand) I cut the top into a heart shape leaving the sides intact at the folds on each side. then I cut off the bottom corners rounding a bit rather than simply cutting straight and lastly leaving a little of the folded edge attached at the top and bottom I cut away some of the middle of each side of the card.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I stamped the swirls from Love Life in versamark and heat embossed them with Winter Wonderland embossing powder (this powder has silver glitter in it but you can't see it at all in the photo). I then took a liquid applique pen and drew on the edges of the bottom and the top, waited for it to dry and then heated it so it would puff up. I used my crop-o-dile to make the lacing holes on the card edges where they meet in the middle (I held them together and punched both at the same time so they were even). The ribbon is laced as 2 separate pieces going only on one side with each piece and then tied inside the card on the bottom and outside at the top. I did it this way so the card could still easily be opened.</div>
<div>

On Sunday we had a party put on by the Military Family Resource Center to celebrate the half way point of the HMCS Toronto deployment. I had volunteered to do crafts with the kids for this.<br />
<br />
My kids were using my eBosser by Craftwell to help me make card bases for the other families of the deployed members of the HMCS Toronto to use for our craft at the half way deployment party I figured we'd make a video. Of course one video turned into 2 since one child is not to be outdone by the other. :)
<br />
<br />
Before you go watch the videos would you like to see some pictures from the Half-Way Deployment party?<br />
<br />
Of course you do right?!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here are the cards that resulted from the videos they made (see below for the videos). These are the ones Michael made.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2J5R22k51So7S3fYucHpa02ls-w4Xh-zamHiapCphTOBZZleQy9l5FmfwJs7ZLgH1QBu9A7tqtIeaUQeUJghDtFUcIcvUxxUzqNUcTM40oU-__2Z4bc3WEH7S3bmVNXJo32gKt3cj864/s1600/cards.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2J5R22k51So7S3fYucHpa02ls-w4Xh-zamHiapCphTOBZZleQy9l5FmfwJs7ZLgH1QBu9A7tqtIeaUQeUJghDtFUcIcvUxxUzqNUcTM40oU-__2Z4bc3WEH7S3bmVNXJo32gKt3cj864/s320/cards.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here are some fun things the kids made to send to their deployed loved ones... with the exception of that picture in the bottom left of this group... that would be a picture of a chunk of Samantha's hair and the piece of paper she was trying to cut her hand prints out of when her pigtail go in the way resulting in cut hair.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The top pics of this group are a mail-able hug and if you click on the picture to enlarge it you can probably even read it. I used the poem from the book "The Paper Hug". Basically it's the kids hand prints cut out and attached with a length of ribbon that was measured to be the length of their outstretched arms. The poem was added to the middle of the ribbon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The bottom right is Reindeer poop aka Halloween smarties that we bought on clearance with a poem printed/cut out, ribbon looped through and laid across the smarties box and then a return address mailing label that I whipped up stuck on to hold the ribbon in place and cover the side of the box that has Halloween pictures on it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After crafting the Military Family Resource Center (MFRC) aka our second home lately had given all the kids tickets that they then used to "purchase" a loot bag and a bag of popcorn that they could have while watching The Croods movie. All of the kids (and moms) had a great time.</div>

<br />
I have been watching Lindsay from <a href="http://thefrugalcrafter.wordpress.com/">The Frugal Crafter</a> do a bunch of watercolour stuff lately (go check her out, she has some awesome tutorials!!). Anyways, I absolutely love watercolour but only ever use my watercolour pencils for it and really wanted to paint. My kids also wanted to paint so I got out their watercolour paints.. you know the kind, the cheap ones that you get all the little discs of paint in a plastic case with a paintbrush in it from the dollar store?!<br />
<br />
I had a whole bunch of these card fronts already stamped and embossed with the <a href="http://www.simonsaysstamp.com/servlet/the-57557/Stampendous-Cling-Stamp-ZINNIA/Detail">Jumbo Zinnia</a> from Stampendous sitting out on my table from a recent craft room clean up I did and decided to paint with my kids. YES this is done with those cheap paints and YES I used the cheap crappy paintbrush that comes with them to do it. :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwHx9Gz6gqTYo-RLQMEgjbqcehi26LQTPRPbdG_z5QHd9hPJK_TYf33YwbWrpzZEDQwvZVugQNLlEHG7GMQOenbDtPCdxwvpq1RXbe5igbSMJ55_7oecTtGbpK1Vv7r0ocnrV2T4PrcQI/s1600/Sketch+29.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwHx9Gz6gqTYo-RLQMEgjbqcehi26LQTPRPbdG_z5QHd9hPJK_TYf33YwbWrpzZEDQwvZVugQNLlEHG7GMQOenbDtPCdxwvpq1RXbe5igbSMJ55_7oecTtGbpK1Vv7r0ocnrV2T4PrcQI/s400/Sketch+29.jpg" width="315" /></a></div>
<br />
As soon as I finished it I knew it was going to be used for this weeks sketch. I grabbed a scrap piece of Cranberry Cardstock and some of the <a href="http://darlah.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=7328&CatalogID=176">Ruby Chevron Ribbon</a>. The Chevron Ribbon actually comes white and ruby chevron which looked way too stark on this so I simply painted it with the same grey that I used around the outlines of the flowers. I grabbed a bunch of buttons from the Red Button Assortment and stuck them on. Voila. I am in love with how it turned out. I hope you like it too and are inspired to go craft with your kids (or if you don't have any maybe try out some cheaper supplies that you can come across very easily).<br />
<br />
Speaking of crafting/playing with your kids... I have some awesome pics to share with you all from some crafty time I spent with mine as well as some videos (you may have already seen the videos on my youtube channel). C'mon back tomorrow and check it out!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I was so happy with how this turned out I decided I will also use these as thank you cards for all of the wonderful people who have donated their beautiful handmade cards to "<b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/SendingSmilesforSoldiers/">Sending Smiles for Soldiers</a></b>" a group I've started where I have been collecting cards and sending them to various military bases within Canada for them to send to their deployed troops. These cards are blank so the deployed military personnel that receive them can use these cards to send home to their friends and families. If you are familiar with <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/">Operation Write Home</a> in the US this is essentially the same thing as that but for Canada.<br />
<br />
I used kraft cardstock and some Tommy B&T paper. The strip across is the zip strip off the edge of the Tommy paper. I cut the ribbon using the Close To My Heart Artbooking cartridge at 1.75" using real dial size and the stamp I used is called <a href="http://www.stampersbest.com/product.php?productid=70&cat=18&page=1">Band of Soldiers</a> from Deep Red Stamps (use the link by clicking on the stamp name and Stampers Best will donate $1 to <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/">Operation Write Home</a> which is the US version of what I'm doing with Sending Smiles for Soldiers). I stamped it in Chocolate pigment ink and distressed the edges of all the layers with the same chocolate pigment ink.<br />

I actually have 2 cards for you today using this weeks sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">
I had one made but wasn't 100% happy with it and had an idea in mind for the second but it got left really late and my little guy has been sick the last couple days so I've been busy with him. I stayed up late last night to finish the second card to have it posted for you today but it just would not photograph for me without some natural light. That said, I will share my first card with you and promise to edit this post later today with the second card I made as well.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">
<br />
This is only the first card... but I couldn't decide on whether or not it should have a sentiment so I made one of each...apparently I am very indecisive lately eh?!</div>

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">This card uses the CTMH Artbooking cricut cartridge for the overlay and the card base behind it was made by cutting the same overlay in a different size and using the piece of paper I cut from for the one I actually used as a mask I laid the different sized one over it and sponged some crystal blue ink. I also masked off where the overlay went after I added my overlay and sponge whisper ink on. I could have achieved the same effect by layering some whisper cardstock and then patterned paper (or a piece of white with the sponging the overlay technique that I did) and I wouldn't have had to mask so much but I wanted to keep the weight of the card down so I did that by reducing the number of layers of cardstock I used and masking to produce the same layered look. The snowman is also cut from the artbooking cartridge. I hand drew his face on and his scarf is actually the scarf from one of the penguins in Wintry Wishes which is a hostess stamp set. The cartridge actually has a cut for the scarf and face included but I liked this striped scraf better an it fit so perfectly. I also didn't want to fuss with the little bits for his face so opted to drawn it on.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">
I tore a piece of white daisy for the snow and placed it in front of my snowman after lightly inking the edges with crystal blue (the snowman is inked with it too). I then added some streaks of glitz glitter gel to make the snow look more realistic.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">

<div style="color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">
After completing both this card and my second card I have actually decided I like this one better but you'll just have to wait until later today to see my second card to decide which one you like better for yourself. They are absolutely nothing alike as the second card is fall themed, not winter. LOL</div>

My mojo has gone missing and despite filling out all the missing person reports and looking high and low for it, it has not turned up yet. ;)<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Regardless I ended up really liking the finished product. What do you think?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I think I might have a 'thing' for this sentiment and silver embossing powder since this is officially the third card in a row I've used it on. What can I say... I really like it. :)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The card base is Ruby cardstock and that's some of our awesome shimmer trim in red and silver on there. The flower is actually a few things... the olive leaves and bottom layer of red petals are cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge. The bottom red layer of petals is also painted with some shimmer spray made out of Pearl Paint, reinker and water. I put a felt flower from the Ruby Mini-Medley assortment on top of the paper flower and added a sparkle to its center. </div>
<div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv69_eNJIvnBMzukLCIMIW0VWiHYgE4b5xapiItGSVQfmF3ynvAQC5beh-Lach3rugb7iqtKBjSG89I8-Vds2k5rSixyqqLQGSQGkz_zxJs9It6IIOBPqGL2Ek_NleIpyLFo_2YTE-eyw/s1600/welcome-comment-005.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv69_eNJIvnBMzukLCIMIW0VWiHYgE4b5xapiItGSVQfmF3ynvAQC5beh-Lach3rugb7iqtKBjSG89I8-Vds2k5rSixyqqLQGSQGkz_zxJs9It6IIOBPqGL2Ek_NleIpyLFo_2YTE-eyw/s320/welcome-comment-005.gif" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
You will see things change here often for the next little while as you can probably tell the site is not completely finished. I did import all of my old blog content over to here so you'd be able to find all of the same posts you were able to see there. :)<br />
<br />
I decided to switch over to this web address instead of my old one because I was having a really hard time with the number of letters in the address of my old one and making it fit on business cards nicely was nearly impossible. This new site actually uses my correct business name so it really makes a lot more sense anyways.<br />
<br />
<b>Now, onto what you really came here for today...</b><br />
<br />
For this weeks sketch I actually left it to the last minute because of some issues I have been having with my shoulder I was not really up for using my arm to craft. That said I ended up making this after everyone else in my house was asleep so this meant no cricut (I know, tragedy right?!) and also that I wanted to use up as many pieces as I had on hand already done so \I could go to bed myself (oh and not wake everyone using the heat gun or simply walking back and forth in my craft area in the living room (which is also located directly above my husbands grandparents bedroom who were sleeping).<br />
<br />
I like it but I think it's just missing some little detail and I can't figure out what... suggestions?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcXzeDo-w5nusLjJ1OybR1Cn-SuXkglcL6j9NEEIskdC9i5KrWnfXWHpUeo0J4ArdUpJdQjow-FD7Ec61vLpYYZY0escqzM-uBb_IVWnsTSRWOzcPH3lNgTgg2rzz98_qGA2YRRKtmJfc/s1600/sketch+24a.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcXzeDo-w5nusLjJ1OybR1Cn-SuXkglcL6j9NEEIskdC9i5KrWnfXWHpUeo0J4ArdUpJdQjow-FD7Ec61vLpYYZY0escqzM-uBb_IVWnsTSRWOzcPH3lNgTgg2rzz98_qGA2YRRKtmJfc/s320/sketch+24a.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
\<br />
I had the main panel already covered in glitter and stamped using a burnished velvet technique.<br />
I coloured some yellow in the windows as well as a little bit on the lawn being cast from the lights on in the house. A little red along the bottom edge of the roof line and that was it. Popped it up on a Pacifica panel. The sentiment I already had a bunch stamped and heat embossed in silver because I had planned to use them to replicate my card from Sketch # 23 for a friend who wanted some so I just matted one with foam tape for some dimension onto a pacifica piece as well. I punched a bunch of swirls from both silver glitter paper and Pacifica cardstock. I punched a bunch of snowflakes from the same glitter paper and white daisy and stuck those on but it just didn't add enough oomph... so I added some Base and Bling metal flowers for snowflakes instead. <br />
<br />
This whole card is actually 5" x 7". I've been making mostly A2 cards lately as I've been making them to send to the deployed members of the Canadian military (more info on that HERE if you're interested), but since glitter is not allowed on those cards I knew this panel was not going to be used for one of those so I thought I'd make a larger card this time.<br />
